What is Bail Bonds Services

  • What is a bail bond?

Bail bonds are monetary guarantees filed with the court so defendants may be temporarily removed from prison and into the custody of the bail company. The bail company promises that the defendant will appear in court whenever they are required to do so.

  • How much does bail cost?

The standard bond premium is 15%. There are cases where bail can be as low as 8%, including cases with Union Members, Veterans, Military Individuals, and more.

  • Is the defendant really in the bail agency’s custody?

Yes, they are. If the defendant does not comply with the bail agency (or the court), they may risk being returned to jail.

  • Why do some bail agencies state 0% down?

If you see this, do not be misled. You will have to pay the bail agency in other ways. Typically, these agencies will take a lien on your home, and you will be required to pay monthly installments to cover the bail premium. If you do not keep up with payments, you still risk being brought back to jail.

  • Do I need collateral?

This will vary depending on your situation. With higher bail amounts, collateral is usually necessary. Call us at 919-280-1830 to ask about your case.
